size-dependent free vibration analysis of rectangular nanoplates with the consideration of surface effects using finite difference method
Authors
abstract
in this article, finite difference method (fdm) is used to study the size-dependent free vibration characteristics of rectangular nanoplates considering the surface stress effects. to include the surface effects in the equations, gurtin-murdoch continuum elasticity approach has been employed. the effects of surface properties including the surface elasticity, surface residual stress and surface mass density are considered to be the main causes for size-dependent behaviors that arise from the increase in surface-to-volume ratios at smaller scales. numerical results are presented to demonstrate the difference between the natural frequency obtained by considering the surface effects and that obtained without considering surface properties. it is observed that the effects of surface properties tend to diminish in thicker nanoplates, and vice versa.

A wave-based computational method for free vibration and buckling analysis of rectangular Reddy nanoplates
In this paper, the wave propagation method is combined with nonlocal elasticity theory to analyze the buckling and free vibration of rectangular Reddy nanoplate. Wave propagation is one of the powerful methods for analyzing the vibration and buckling of structures. It is assumed that the plate has two opposite edges simply supported while the other two edges may be simply supported or clamped. ...
full textFree Vibration Analysis of Nanoplates Made of Functionally Graded Materials Based On Nonlocal Elasticity Theory Using Finite Element Method
In this paper, an analysis of free vibration in functionally graded nanoplate is presented. Third-order shear deformation plate theory is used to reach more accuracy in results. Small-scale effects are investigated using Eringen`s nonlocal theory. The governing equations of motion are obtained by Hamilton`s principle. It is assumed that the properties of nanoplates vary through their thicknesse...
full textFree in-plane vibration of heterogeneous nanoplates using Ritz method
In this paper, the Ritz method has been employed to analyze the free in-plane vibration of heterogeneous (non-uniform) rectangular nanoplates corresponding to Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity theory. The non-uniformity is taken into account using combinations of linear and quadratic forms in the thickness, material density and Young’s modulus. Two-dimensional boundary characteristic orthogonal pol...
full textAnalysis of rectangular thin plates by using finite difference method
This paper presents an investigation into the performance evaluation of Finite Difference (FD) method in modeling a rectangular thin plate structure. In case of complex and big construction systems subjected to the arbitrary loads, including a complex boundary conditions, solving of differential equations by analytical methods is almost impossible. Then the solution is application of numerical ...
